| Description: | Gloria (Joan Blondell) and Mae (Glenda Farrell) are roommates. They need money to pay rent and to pay a fine to keep Gloria out of jail. The Pacific Fleet is in town, and August Freytag is hosting a "Miss Pacific Fleet" contest — when he's not drinking or trying to fend off his shrewish wife. Sailors can drum up votes for their favorite by buying from local businesses. The girls get Gloria's boyfriend Kewpie (Allen Jenkins), a sailor, to drum up the Navy vote, and he gets buddy Tom to drum up the Marine vote. But Gloria falls for Tom, in spite of all Kewpie does for her. In the end, she wins anyway thanks to Tom. Kewpie realizes he's lost his girl, but decides to kiss Mae instead. There's a boxing match and a kidnapping thrown in for laughs. |
