Review - I'll Be Home for Christmas
Farcical, and although Jake learns his lesson in the end, he isn't a very likeable character.

| Description: | College student/conman Jake (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) tries to talk his girlfriend Allie (Jessica Biel) into going to a resort for Christmas, but she wants to be home with her family for a traditional Christmas. Jake doesn't want to go to his home because he doesn't like his step-mother, but when his dad promises to give him a Porsche if he gets home by Christmas Eve, he changes his mind. He tells Allie he'll take her, but then one of his cons goes wrong and his chief rival, Eddie, and his friends, leave Jake glued into a Santa suit in the middle of the desert. When Jake doesn't show up, Allie catches a ride with Eddie. Jake makes his way across the country, using his fast talking and schemes to get people to help him. At one point, he catches up with Allie and Eddie, but when Allie finds out he's only going home for the car, she dumps him and takes his seat on the bus. Eddie gives him a ride for a while, then dumps him again. Jake makes the last leg of his trip by stowing away in the cargo hold of a plane with a dog. In his hometown, he steals a sled from a parade, but instead of going home, he goes to see Allie. He apologizes and proves it by getting home just a few minutes late for dinner. She forgives him, and his dad, happy to see him, tries to give him the car anyway, but Jake refuses and says he'll be home every Christmas to help his dad work on it. He makes friends with his step-mother, and he, Allie, and his family jump in the sled and join the parade. |
