| Description: | Gar (Clint Walker) kills a man who beat up his girl. The sheriff chases him with a posse. Gar comes across a dead man, killed by Comanches, and changes clothes with him then tosses his body off a cliff. The sheriff finds it and thinks Gar is dead. He happens across a ranch where Celia (Virginia Mayo) and her son Chad are waiting for Celia's husband to return. The Comanches are coming, so Gar takes the woman and boy and tries to make it to Fort Dobbs. Along the way, they meet gunrunner Clett (Brian Keith), out to see repeating rifles to the Comanches. When Clett harasses Celia, Gar runs him off. When they get to Fort Dobbs, the discover that the Comanche have killed the garrison. Just then, a group of settles arrive, led by the sheriff who was after Gar. He volunteers to go for help. On the way he meets Clett and tells him he needs his rifles. Clett refuses. They have a gunbattle and Gar wins. He gets back to the fort just in time to fend off another Comanche attack, and when the Indians see the firepower of the repeating rifles, they give up. The sheriff forgives Gar, and he, Celia, and Chad ride off together. |
