Description:Jewelry-maker Norman (Norman Wisdom) wants to buy a fancy necklace for Anne (Jill Dixon), the girl who works across the street. From one of the store clients, Miss Daviot, who works at a betting parlor, he hears about an accumulator bet in which he can turn one pound into 33,000 pounds if he picks seven winners in a row. He "borrows" the money from his mother and places the bet. As his picks pay off, the parlor owners begin panicking because they can't pay. Norman tries to back out of the bet after six wins, and even tries to buy the horse, but he can't and wins. The parlor owners plan to flee the country, but Miss Daviot saves them by placing the same bet that Norman made with another parlor — one that actually pays its debts. Norman and Anne get engaged.

Review - Just My Luck

The basic plot was fun enough, but the movie was padded with a lot of chaotic shouting and silly slapstick. It was most interesting as a picture of England in the mid-1950's.
