| Description: | During WWII, a gang runs a racket in which they steal people's tires, then sell them bootlegged, defective tires at a high price. When two teenager die after one of the tires bursts, Detective Lt. Pat Harrigan is put on the case. He doesn't realize that his brother, Mike, is part of the tire gang. Two other teens who can identify some of the bootleggers, are killed when their car explodes. Pat goes undercover and pretends to take a bribe. He's kicked off the force. He's brought into the gang and discovers that his own police captain, Butler, is the read of the racket. But he doesn't know that one of the bad guys has trailed him to a meeting with the police chief and knows he's undercover. Butler takes him to the factory where the bootlegged tires are made and is about to kill him when Mike shows up and kills Butler to save his brother. He is also killed in the shootout. Eleanor Parker has a small, unimportant role as a friend both brothers love. |
