Description:When the commanding officer is killed by Indians, cavalry Captain Robert MacClaw (Guy Madison) is forced to take command. He's only supposed to take the troop as far as the next town, but when he gets there, an infantry Colonel gives orders for the troop to accompany a wagon train. While hiding that he's a doctor, MacClaw has to deal with what he thinks might be smallpox. He meets Martha (Joan Weldon), a young woman traveling on the train, and they fall for each other. When the infantry Colonel has a stroke, MacClaw if forced to take command of the entire group right when a large band of Indians attack. He tries some creative methods of dealing with them, definitely not part of the Army manual, but manages to get the train and most of the troops and infantry through to safety and wins a medal and the girl.

Review - Command, The

If you like to watch movies that feature a lot of men falling off horses, and even a good Wilhelm scream, then this is the movie for you. The lead characters were likeable enough, but I'm pretty sure the West was never like this.
