Description:John Gant (Audie Murphy) is an assassin for hire who hasn't been arrested because he always provokes his target into attacking first. When he rides into town, many of the men, knowing they have enemies, think he's after them. They begin killing each other in revenge before they even know who Gant is after. Doctor Luke Canfield (Charles Drake) tries to befriend, and then reason with Gant, but to no avail. It turns out that Gant's target is on old judge who had enough dirt on an eastern governor to send him to prison. The judge is the father of Luke's fiancée, Anne (Joan Evans). Knowing that the judge, who is dying, will let himself be killed, Gant provokes him by tearing off Anne's shirt and showing it to the judge. The judge does try to kill him but dies of a heart attack first. Luke, knowing what Gant did to Anne and seeing the judge lying dead, throws a blacksmith hammer at Gant and disables his shooting arm. Gant rides off knowing that the first enemy he meets will kill him.

Review - No Name on the Bullet

The story was pretty good, and all the other actors did a good job, but I just didn't buy Murphy in his role. I know he was a tough guy in real life, but here he just looked like a college kid trying to act tough.
