| Description: | Two convicts, Champ (James Craig) and Jimbo (Frank Jenks), afraid that the Japs are going to bomb Alcatraz, escape. Instead of making it to the mainland, they end up on a tiny island with a lighthouse off the entrance to the bay. They take hostage the four people on the island, Captain, his daughter Anne (Bonita Granville), worker Stormy, and Brenner, whom the others don't know is a Nazi. He tries to keep the convicts from taking the lighthouse boat because he needs to take three Nazis out to a sub so they can deliver plans to San Francisco. Jimbo shoots him. When Brenner doesn't contact them, the three Nazis show up at the lighthouse. At first, Champ is willing to deal with them to get away, but he becomes convinced that the war is his war too. When the Nazis begin whipping Anne to force Champ to cooperate, he and Jimbo begin swinging. While Anne takes out the Nazi woman, Champ and Jimbo subdue the two Nazi men. Captain sends the location of the sub, and it's sunk. Champ and Jimbo go back to Alcatraz, but with the info that their sentences will be reduced as a reward for stopping the Nazis. Anne promises to wait for Champ. |
