Not overly memorable, but I enjoyed it and found Leigh and Olivier compelling in their roles.

| Description: | Larry (Laurence Olivier) goes with his girlfriend Wanda (Vivien Leigh) to her apartment where they find Wanda's estranged husband. She married him three years earlier when she was alone and starving, but left him after a week because he was cruel. Now he's back and wants money. When Larry intervenes, the husband pulls a knife. He and Larry struggle, and the husband ends up dead. Larry hides the body in an alley where it is found by Tolley, a down-on-his luck clergyman who takes the dead man's wallet. The police find the body and arrest Tolley. Larry decides to give himself up to protect the innocent man, but his lawyer brother Keith (Leslie Banks), up for a promotion, convinces Larry to wait until there's a verdict to see if the man is really convicted. Knowing he may only have three weeks, Larry and Wanda marry and grab all the good they can out of life. Tolley is found guilty, and Larry leaves the house to turn himself in. Wanda discovers that Tolley has died of a heart attack on the way to his execution, and Wanda races after Larry and catches him with the news on the steps of the police station. |
