Description:Tira (Mae West) works for a sleazy carnival and uses her act to bilk men out of money. She's a lion tamer, and when she begins putting her head in the lion's mouth, she becomes famous and makes a lot of money. One of the men who chases after her is Kirk, an wealthy engaged man who sends her lots of expensive gifts. Kirk's friend Jack (Cary Grant) goes to see Tira to try to convince her not to see Kirk anymore. Jack and Tira fall in love and plan to get married. Worried that he's going to lose her act in his circus, Big Bill (Edward Arnold) pays Tira's chauffeur to fake a breakdown and keep her away from home on a night she has a date with Jack. When Jack arrives, she finds Big Bill's accomplice in her apartment, acting like he belongs there. Jack calls off the wedding. Hurt, Tire decides to sue him for breach of promise. In court, Jack's lawyer tries to paint Tira as a con artist who preys on men, but she cross-examines all the witnesses and makes them look like fools. Along the way, she mentions how she felt about Jack, so he concedes the case and he and Tira get back together.

Review - I'm No Angel

Mae West is not only NOT attractive, the way she slinks around and turns everything she says into an insinuation is decidedly off-putting. The movie was doing nothing for me until the courtroom scene, which was actually sort of clever. The way she turned the men's testimonies against them was funny. But I still don't buy the idea that she's irresistible to every man she meets or that she and Cary Grant could possible get together.
