Description:Chicago mobster Ace Corbin (Cary Grant) decides to go straight. On a train to California, he meets Eleanor (Benita Hume), and they fall in love. Both use fake names, so he doesn't know she's a moll for West Coast gangster Joe Burke, and she doesn't know he's a mobster. When they get to California, Burke looks up Ace and offers him a partnership in his gambling boat. Ace turns him down until he finds out that his enemy, Manning, another Chicago gangster, is gunning for him. Ace takes over Burke's boat for a night, but Manning's men bomb it. The D.A. calls Ace in, along with Eleanor, who was with him on the ship. In the D.A.'s office, Ace finds out who Eleanor really is. Ace, Eleanor and Burke go back to the ship. Manning attacks and kills Burke. Ace, with help from a petty gangster named Blooey (Roscoe Karns) let the anchor go. Manning's men are either swept overboard of die when the ship wrecks on rocks. Ace, Eleanor, and Booey escape with life preservers. Ace and Eleanor go straight and get married.

Review - Gambling Ship

Cary Grant as a gangster was a twist. It wasn't a great movie, or one that I'd want to watch repeatedly, but it kept my interest.
