Description:Joe (Jimmy Lloyd) and Ellen (Leslie Brooks) met and fell in love just days before Joe sailed off to the oil fields in South America. During the two years he was gone, he and Ellen wrote to each other and planned to get married when he returned. But to impress each other, Ellen claimed to be a big shot night club singer instead of just the cigarette girl she was, and Joe claimed to be president of the oil company. When he returns, the company executives agree to let him pretend to be president for a couple days, and the owner of the night club agrees to let Ellen sing. These deceptions create all sorts of chaos with them and with others who misunderstand. The truth finally comes out, but Joe and Ellen decide to get married anyway.

Review - Cigarette Girl

If you take out four or five random songs that have nothing to do with the plot, the movie would only be about half an hour long. That's still too long for this weak story, although Brooks was lovely.
