| Description: | The Lemon Drop Kid (Bob Hope) is a race track tout, giving people tips on other horses to increase the odds on the one he bet on. He accidentally gave a bad tip to the girlfriend of gangster Moose Moran, and Moose figures it cost him $10,000. He gives Lemon until Christmas to come up with the money. Lemon notices all the Santas collecting money, so he starts doing that. When he gets arrested for doing it without a license, he gets that idea of turning Moose's shut-down casino as an old folks home for old ladies so he can get a license for raising money for it. The plan works great and Lemon has everyone fooled, including Brainey (Marilyn Maxell), his girlfriend. Another gangster, Oxford Charlie (Lloyd Nolan) finds out what Lemon is doing and steals the money, the old folks home, and the ladies. Lemon dresses up like an old woman and enters the home. He grabs the money and runs. He tells Moose and Oxford to meet him at the casino, which they do — but then all of Lemon's friends and their girls, the old ladies, and Brainey pop out and begin gambling — just as Lemon has the cops show up. The cops arrest Moose and Oxford, the old ladies get the money after all, and Lemon marries Bra1ney. |
