Reviews for The Sure Thing
Review - Sure Thing, The
The concept was fun, but Cusack played his character so annoyingly that it's hard to see how any girl could like him.

| Description: | Gib (John Cusack) and Alison (Daphne Zuniga), classmates at a New England college, are polar opposites, and when he tries to go out with her, she's not at all interested. Gib's friend Lance, in California, talks Gib into coming west to meet a girl who is a "sure thing." Gib hitches a ride with other students — which happens to be in the same car Alison is in. She's traveling to spend the holidays with her boyfriend. When their arguing gets too much for the driver, he kicks them out. They have to make their way across the country by hitching. They run into the usual problems — weather, lack of funds, lack of food, oddballs. By the time they get to L.A., they've fallen for each other but haven't admitted it. Gib goes to meet the sure thing but decides he's not interested. Alison breaks up with her stodgy boyfriend. Back east at college, when they finally realize they both like each other and get together. |
