It just never worked for me. I found it difficult to last all the way through. I didn't think the funny parts were funny or that the romance was believable.

| Description: | A spoof of movie studios. The parent company sends accountant Atterbury Dodd (Leslie Howard) to Colossal Studios to find out why its losing money. He meets Lester Plum (Joan Blondell), a stand in for star Thelma, and hires her as his secretary. He soon realizes that Thelma, the director, and various others are working to bomb the picture so that the studio will be sold to Ivor Nassau. Dodd is uptight and logical, but Lester works to loosen him up. When the movie is finished, it's clear its a turkey, and the parent company agrees to sell the studio to Nassau who intends to shut it down. Dodd turns to Douglas Quintain (Humphrey Bogart), the producer, who is the one man capable of saving the picture. Quintain loves Thelma and wants her out of the business, so he cuts her out of the photo and Dodd fires her. In the end, the movie is a hit, the studio is saved, and Dodd marries Lester. |
