Description:Ronnie Bowers (Dick Powell) wins a contest and gets signed to a movie contract in Hollywood. His first night in town, movie star Mona Marshall (Lola Lane) decides she doesn't want to go to a premiere of one of her movies. The studio gets a look-a-like, Virginia Stanton (Rosemary Lane) to pretend to be Mona, and gets Ronnie to escort her. Ronnie thinks he's with Mona and is surprised and pleased when they hit it off. The next day, he finds out Virginia is just a waitress, but he still loves her. But when Mona finds out what happened, she gets Ronnie fired. He gets work as a waiter at a drive-in, and he and Virginia keep seeing each other. A producer hears Ronnie singing at the drive-in and offers him a job as the singing voice of star Alexander Dupre. When the movie comes out, Dupre gets all the credit, and radio personality Louella Parsons asks him to be on her show in the Hollywood Hotel. Dupre plans to claim he has a sore throat, but Ronnie, Virginia and some friends see to it that Dupre doesn't show up and Ronnie has to take his place. He's a big hit and gets signed to a real contract this time. Ronald Reagan, in his second appearance on the screen, has a small uncredited role as a radio announcer.

Review - Hollywood Hotel

The basic premise was fun, and Powell and Rosemary Lane were fun. There were some bit actors who had amusing parts too. But the movie went down a whole rating at the end when, before Ronnie sang at the hotel, I had to sit through two long and boring numbers by random musicians that had nothing to do with the movie.
