Description:Hal Norton (Ronald Reagan) has a stern talk with his mother Louisa (Spring Byington) because her nagging is upsetting his wife and children. He tells her to find something to do outside the house, so she does — dating the grocer, Mr. Hammond (Edmund Gwenn). When Hal and the family find out, they get upset. Things get more complicated when Hal's boss Mr. Burnside (Charles Coburn) meets Louisa and begins pursuing her. Mr. Burnside hires a detective to dig up dirt on Mr. Hammond, which causes more mayhem. Finally, Louisa decides to marry Mr. Hammond and everyone has to deal with it. There's a sub-plot regarding two boys who are pursuing Cathy (Piper Laurie), Hal's daughter.

Review - Louisa

The whole movie revolved around a crisis that wasn't a crisis — should old people date? It all seemed stupid since the mother was told to find something to do outside the house. Reagan mostly just ran around overacting about being stressed.
