| Description: | Will (Buddy Ebsen) is asked by his old (now dead) friend to take over his ranch until his drunken, irresponsible son Lee (Keir Dullea) is responsible enough to run it. Will has no luck reforming Lee, so he comes up with the idea that woman could do it. He finds Annie (Lois Nettleton) and brings her and her young son to the ranch. Lee planned on going through with the wedding and then, when Will leaves, kicking the woman out. But he soon falls for her. Lee's friend Jace (Warren Oates), however, talks him into selling off all the cattle and ditching Annie and the ranch. To distract Will, Jace sets fire to the ranch house and almost kills Annie's son. Lee decides to stay around, but first, he and Will have to go get his cattle back from Jace. There's a showdown and Jace is killed. Lee stays on the ranch with Annie. Will heads back to find a woman he met during his search for Lee's wife. |
