Michigan Avenue Bridge — Chicago, Illinois

After enjoying lunch at Pizzaria Uno, we headed for the Art Museum, crossing the Chicago River on the Michigan Avenue Bridge.  I was planning on taking a bunch of pictures, but I was afraid to get run over. I finally stopped and leaned on the railing while my wife walked around to the “bank” and took this shot. I’m in a black shirt beneath the second U.S. flag.

Fort Dearborn, built in 1803, was located where the south end of the bridge now sits. The outline of the fort is marked by plagues embedded in the street and sidewalk.

I took this photo of me (above) by the southeast tower. All four towers are decorated with large carvings.
