- Flying Down to Rio (1933) 6 (Dozens of girls dancing on the wings of airplanes!)
- The Gay Divorcee (1934) 6 (They hadn’t hit their stride yet.)
- Roberta (1934) 5 (Watch Irene Dunn sing a woman to death!)
- Top Hat (1935) 7 (The total lack of plot is the only major flaw in this film.)
- Follow the Fleet (1936) 7 (My Mom used to sing “I Saw the Sea” to me when I was a kid, but she doesn’t remember seeing the film.)
- Swing Time (1936) 7 (If couples would only listen to each other, there would be no romantic comedies.)
- Shall We Dance (1936) 6 (Worth seeing just to watch Fred and Ginger singing “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” while tap dancing on roller skates.)
- Carefree (1938) 6 (Ralph Bellamy made a career out of being the jilted boyfriend.)
- The Story of Vernon & Irene Castle (1939) 6 (Pleasant enough but a little dull.)
- The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) 6 (In color!)
Bottom line: I like Fred and Ginger, but none of these movies have much substance. The reason I watch them is for the dancing. Their grace and athleticism is amazing.
