Whenever I flew out of Midway Airport, I noticed this thing hanging from the ceiling. I couldn’t help noticing it. It hangs right over the security gates. It looked like a poorly-hung blue drapery of some sort, or maybe a whale. It wasn’t until I saw a post about it on Roadside America.com that I realized it was a topographical model of the bottom of Lake Michigan. Now I see it, of course. But it’s still a weird perspective.
