Cary, Illinois — Fel-Pro Conservation Area

I was walking the trail through the oak woods on the rise above the pond when I spotted this butterfly. It’s wings were considerably chewed up, and I even think it limped when it walked. But it was still capable of flying low and erratically from sunny spot to sunny spot. I caught a brief glimpse of orange spots on the underside of its wings, but in the shade this was the only photograph I managed. It’s a very beautiful butterfly when in its full glory, so hopefully better photographs are coming.

Baseball — An Apology and a Confession

APOLOGY

I apologize to Jim Edmonds for anything and everything I’ve said about him in the past. (He just became only the third player in Cubs’ history to hit two home runs in an inning.)

CONFESSION

I’ve never understood a single thing that Ozzie Guillen has ever said.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Pat Hughes has been a broadcaster for the Cubs for 13 years. During that stretch, the Cubs have never had a first-place lead of more than four games.

It’s just as well. They don’t make it look like much fun.

And NO touchdowns either!
