Navy Pier

My niece and nephew had never been to Navy Pier, so I gave them a tour while my wife and daughter relaxed on a bench and watched the evening set in over Lake Michigan.

When we met back up, we told my wife and daughter that we wanted to ride the Ferris wheel. They told us they’d just been discussing the same thing. And so we did.

The Ferris wheel is 150-feet tall and can carry 240 people at a time. It’s modeled after the first ever Ferris wheel, built for the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The original one was 264 feet high and could carry 2,160 passengers.

The Ferris wheel never stops moving. We climbed on as our car went slowly along the platform at the bottom. It moves at the same slow pace the entire time. A ride costs $6.00 for one seven-minute circuit.
