Norge Ski Jump

The ads for the ski jumping at Norge Ski Club on January 27 said it would last from noon to 4:00. We invited some friends. We thought four hours of ski jumping might be a bit much, so we planned on arriving around 2:00. We saw seven or eight jumpers come down the hill. Then another jumper came down the hill. Then three more all at once. And that was it. It was over by 2:30. We didn’t know this at the time, though. It was raining, so we found a place to shelter under a staircase and watched all the people in their silly hats.

The “dangerous” triple jump. It’s pretty hard to make out the third guy just coming off the end of the jump.

Marty is a local guy who, for the past 35 years, has been dressing up as the Viking mascot of the Norge Ski Club. He thought my request for him to sit in the chair was odd, but after I took the picture he told me he also thought it was pretty cool.
