I was strolling through a local forest preserve when I spotted this little guy in the middle of a well-traveled path. I’m pretty sure he had just hatched, and he had a long way to go to get to water. I did my good deed for the day and carried him to the closest pond.
I spotted another one on Friday, just about the same size as the one above. This one seemed a lot livelier — it was certainly a lot cleaner — and it was much closer to water. Since I was taken to task for helping out the first one, I put this one back where I found it.
