Orlando, Florida — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

I wasn’t doing much birding at this point in my life. I’d started my blog and begun carrying the red chair around with me. Life was stressful in many ways and I had lost interest. I hadn’t added a lifer in more than two years.

I was in Orlando to attend a conference. On Friday afternoon, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk around the grounds and along a nearby road. When I got back to the hotel, I skirted a pond along the parking lot. I saw two Limpkins foraging for what looked like clams. One of the birds kept stealing the clams the other bird found. They paid very little attention to me and allowed me to get very close. I suppose I watched them for about 10 minutes.
