Black River Harbor

After lunch at Joe’s Pasty Shop, we headed north to Black River Harbor. It was raining, but we decided we didn’t care.

There were a few people around, but not many — and none of them stuck around as long as we did. We crossed the river on the suspension bridge.

When we were halfway across, my wife pointed out a quartet of River Otters swimming down the channel toward us. They passed under the bridge, played along the shore for a few minutes, then swam out of sight downstream.

Here’s another shot of the bridge taken from the other side looking back.

The rain let up for maybe a half hour. We walked down the beach to the east, toward the Porcupine Mountains (which can be seen above the trees in the distance in one of these photos). Presque Isle River, where we explored the day before, was about five miles away along the lake but close to 40 miles by car.
