| Notes: | Subtitle: Changes Rung on an Old Theme. One in a series of mysteries featuring the dashing young gentleman-scholar detective Lord Peter Wimsey. Lord Peter investigates a murder in the village of Fenchurch St. Paul. A great flood and the ringing of the bells in the old church tower create a fantastic atmosphere. COMMENTS — With G. K. Chesterton, Agatha Christie and others, Sayers founded the Detection Club, a group comprised of mystery writers. They published a parody of the detective story in a novel entitled The Floating Admiral in which each author wrote one chapter. |
