Review - Christmas in the Big House, Christmas in the Quarters

I agree with Rae Lyn that reading about the Christmas customs of the South just before the Civil War was interesting and informative. I also thought the artwork was impressive. I also thought the authors did a good job of showing the evils and tensions of slavery without villifying those involved.

But I found the story to be rather bland. I think that if the authors had personalized it — given the characters names and personalities instead of referring to them generically — I would have enjoyed it a lot more. As written, I couldn't immerse myself into it at all.
