Notes:A Discworld novel. Pratchett takes aim at religion and gods.

Brutha is a simple gardner who also happens to be the only remaining believer in the great god Om. Om, because he isn't believed in much anymore, has become a tortoise. The two get caught up in a dispute between two nations, but in the end, Brutha is seen as a great prophet who makes millions believe in Om. With Om's help (because he is now great again), sets up a kingdom where religion and gods don't much matter.

Review - Small Gods

It's rather sad, really. Pratchett picks out all the stupid stuff about religion and rightly lampoons it. But he also lumps everything about God in with it and ends up with nothing.

And it wasn't particularly funny either.
