Review - Nation Comes of Age, The
The history of the United States from 1826 to 1860. The first half of the book and the final four or five chapters were on political and military history and were very interesting. The rest was cultural history by topic and was at times pretty boring. It covered the presidential elections and the growing animosity between the North and the South. Smith’s writing is pretty good, although at times he editorializes quite a bit.
