Notes:Louis Zamperini was a track star who represented the U.S. in the 1936 Olympics. During WWII, he was lost at sea and captured by the Japanese. He spent three years as a P.O.W. and was a special target for cruelty by a guard known as The Bird. After the war, Louis became an alcoholic until he became a Christian under the ministry of Billy Graham. He spent the rest of his life helping troubled youth and giving inspirational talks.

Review - Unbroken

It's an interesting story, but not a great book. The history is thoroughly researched, but not compellingly told. Zamperini seems like an interesting guy, but I'd never heard of him, so it was somewhat strange to have him presented as a huge celebrity. His post-war life was glossed over somewhat, and although segments of Billy Graham's sermons are included, the gospel isn't given. The account of his almost 50 days in an inflatable raft with two other men was interesting, but the rest of the book didn't live up to this part.
