Notes:A prequel to Jack Absolute. It gives the story of Jack's youth, from being a virtual slave under his uncle to his reuniting with his parents. He grows up in London with a fine education while living a wild life on the side. A duel with his cousin forces him to join the army. He is sent to North America in time to join the battle before Quebec. During the fighting, he is captured by Indians and made a slave. He escapes with Ate, a Mohawk. The two survive a winter in the wilderness, then return to Canada to spy for the British.

Review - Blooding of Jack Absolute, The

The first half, set in London, is pretty bawdy. The second half, set in North America during the French and Indian War, was more exciting, although none of it is terribly realistic.
