Notes:A history of the settlement of Kentucky and Ohio from the 1770s until 1813 when the War of 1812 ended in the west with the defeat of the British by American led by William Henry Harrison at the Battle of the Thames. In particular, the book follows the history of Simon Kenton, early pioneer and protector of settlers, and Tecumseh, the Shawnee warrior who attempted, and almost succeeded in uniting all the Indians into one fighting force.

Review - Frontiersmen, The

Well-written and informative, although I'm not a huge fan of Eckert's method of turning history into novel by imagining thoughts and dialogue. I think the history is interesting enough on its own. But he insists that every incident and person and date is historically accurate.
