Notes:Subtitle: The New Mexican and Indian Insurrection of 1847

During the Mexican War, U.S. forces entered New Mexico and took over the territory without a fight. A short time later, in January, 1847, locals of Spanish descent and Taos Indians rose up and killed Governor Charles Bent and several other U.S. citizens in and around the town of Taos. An American force led by Sterling Price fought its way into Taos and captured many of those involved. After a quick trial, the murderers were hung.

Review - Revolt at Taos

History cannot possible be written in a duller fashion than this. Crutchfield includes every last bit of knowledge he can find on the events and, in several places, resorts to long lists of names. He also delves into the political discussions that took place afterwards and amounted to nothing.
