Reviews for Double Indemnity
Review - Double Indemnity
Certainly not a cheery book. It's a gritty noir thriller, well written and short enough to read before wearing out on the characters.

| Notes: | Walter Huff is an insurance man. When he goes to the home of Mr. Nirdlinger to sell him a policy, he meets Nirdlinger's wife Phyllis. Huff is persuaded by her to write out an accidental death policy on her husband and then help her kill him. Huff plans the perfect crime, but he doesn't plan on falling in love with Lola, Nirdlinger's daughter. Huff decides the only way he can ever be with Lola is if Phyllis is dead. He makes a plan to kill her, but she shoots him. Lola is suspected, so Huff confesses from the hospital. His insurance company doesn't want a scandal, so they put him on a ship to Mexico—with Phyllis. The two of them decide they have no choice but to jump overboard and commit suicide. |
