Notes:Book 10 in the Hervey series

Matthew Hervey is sent to South Africa to escort an ambassador to Shaka of the Zulus. The small troop arrives just in time to see Shaka assassinated. A band of British troops are killed, but Hervey escapes with Shaka's widow. They make a trek of 100 miles to a village where a loyal chief lives, but the rebels soon arrive and overcome it. Hervey has no choice but to escape with his remaining soldiers.

Review - Warrior

It took the first half of the book to get Hervey to Africa and then another several chapters before any action took place. And when the action happened, it was basically an account of the British retreating before an army of Zulus. I've read the earlier books in the series, but not so closely together that I'm able to keep track of the various characters, and I don't find myself greatly caring about any of them.
