Review - Splendid and the Vile, The

The parts of the account that deal with the war and politics were pretty interesting, although I've read books on the subject several times before so not much of it was new. Larson got hold of diaries by Churchill's daughter, Mary, and his secretary, John Colville, and included a lot about them, which wasn't interesting. To be reading about a bombing raid and then have to stop for six pages while I read about how Mary had a crush on a soldier to how Colville longed for a woman who didn't love him, was annoying. Their stories weren't interesting and I didn't care for or about either of them.
