Review - Clear the Tracks!
A lot of railroad jargon that wasn't explained, but I could figure out most of what was going on. It was amusing in places and interesting throughout.

| Notes: | Subtitle: The Story of an Old-Time Locomotive Engineer Armed Services Edition Joe Bromley was an engineer during the period after the Civil War. He began working for the railroad in Lackawanna Railroad when he was a boy. He became a fireman so that he could work his way up to engineer. At 20, he became the youngest engineer on the road and spent the next 20 years driving trains around New York state. He married Mamie, the sister of a friend, and had two children. When he was 40, he knew his job was in danger because he was going deaf in one ear, so he applied for, and got, a job inspecting accidents. He relates the quirks of various engines, accidents that happened when he was on board, and the personalities he knew. |
