Notes:Ethan Allen, poor boy from upstate Vermont, loves baseball. He lives with this mom, Gypsy, and his grandma, and he talks with a statue of his namesake on the town square. One day, a man, Teddy, wanders over from the tracks and begins teaching Ethan baseball. He finds out later that the man is his father, just released from prison. As Teddy grows up and gets better, he becomes the star pitcher for the town team and gets the attention of a Red Sox scout. When the Sox make the playoffs, they're desperately in need of pitchers and recruit Ethan. He blows his first chance, but then is called in in the late innings of game 7 of the World Series and pitches them to the championship.

Review - Waiting for Teddy Williams

Ethan was a fun character, as was Teddy. It was interesting that Ethan talked to the statue on the square and the statue talked back. This was never explained. In the end, however, the book didn't really have much of a point. It just sorta ended.
