Review - Summer Lightning
Typical Wodehouse silliness, with a ridiculous plot, extraordinary coincidences, and a few laugh-till-it-hurts sentences.

| Notes: | Published in the U.S. as Fish Preferred Set at Blandings Castle. The Earl of Emsworth is raising prized pig that he hopes will win a ribbon. His brother, Galahad, is writing a tell-all memoir that frightens all who knew him during his wild youth. Their nephew, Ronnie Fish, is in love with Sue Brown, a London chorus girl, and their niece Millicent, is in love with the Earl's secretary, Hugo. Ronnie knows he needs a miracle to get permission to marry Sue. He plots to steal the pig and then find it, figuring the Earl's gratitude will include permission. The Earl hires a detective to find the pig. The Earl's sister asks an ex-secretary to find Galahad's manuscript and destroy it. Much silliness ensues, but in the end, the pig is found safe, Ronnie marries Sue and Hugo marries Millicent. |
