His body is stolen from the gallows by thieves and sold to a doctor who is honorable to nurse the unconscious man back to life when he sees signs of life. Meanwhile, Pauncefort, in an attempt to force Damaris to marry him, has Sir John arrested. Then Sir John arrives with Gaynor himself—free to move about because, despite what Pauncefort says, Gaynor cannot possibly me the spy who was hung. Review - Gates of Doom, The

A fun historical adventure, complete with a beautiful woman, a bold hero, and an oily villain. The fact that the hero was a Jacobite made it a little hard to root for him, but a rollicking tale anyway.
