Notes:Miss Jane Kinneson lives alone on Kingdom Mountain in northern Vermont. She considers the mountain her own land and fights the town fathers who want to build a highway across it. She's visited by stunt pilot Henry Satterfield, who is searching for a lost treasure—gold stolen from the local bank by Confederate soldiers. Jane and Henry have a summer-long fling. They find the gold and intend to get married. But when the town insults Jane and Henry, he steals the gold and flies off, never to be heard from again. Jane goes on living on the mountain, but first gives it to a conservation group who prevents the highway from being built.

Review - On Kingdom Mountain

Mildly amusing. The main character, Jane, has a beef with God and now and then makes changes to the Bible. The folklore is quaint, but Jane was a bit too eccentric for my liking and none of the other characters amounted to much.
