Doing the Usual Christmas Stuff …

Last Friday, we took the train into Chicago to do the things everyone in the area is supposed to do every December. Our friends and their son came along. It rained the entire evening.

Dinner at Pizzeria Uno. The pizza was good, but not great. And the $80 check got us rethinking our tradition for next year.

Walk to Millennium Park to see the carolers. This Friday featured a gospel group who did mostly Christian carols.

Wander around inside Macy’s and buy Frango Mints.

Walk along State Street and look at the window displays.

Here’s the first window at Macy’s. The letter this girl is writing says, “Dear Santa, I promise I’ve been good. Please bring me …” We guessed she was going to ask for a longer crayon or a taller desk.

The Christkindlmarket at Daley Center Plaza. We bought some very tasty strudel. The Christmas tree this year is an actual tree rather than many small trees tied together as in the past.

And all that’s left is the train ride home. About 15 miles out of the city, the rain changed to snow. I took this shot out the back window.
