I’ve always wanted to see a baseball game from a sky box, and now I have. I’d still like to see a Major League game from a sky box, but this was pretty cool.
About 20 of us from work — those who had done extra Bible memory — got to spend a lazy afternoon watching a Minor League game at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. The weather was perfect, warm, with a nice breeze and low humidity, and we were in the shade just down the third-base line from home. At the beginning of the game, the stands beneath us were filled with groups from grade schools. The kids began leaving around the fourth inning, and by the end of the game, the park was almost empty.
We had a catered meal of Italian beef, pasta salad and I don’t remember what else, with ice cream and cookies for dessert.
The inside of our box
I took this shot late in the game. Note how empty the stands are.
The view from our seats
Ozzie the Cougars’ mascot visited us in the seventh inning and led the seventh-inning stretch from our box. Of course you remember him from this occasion. I wonder if the same person was inside the suit?
