Munising Fireworks

When we arrived in Munising on Thursday afternoon, we saw signs all over town saying that the July 4th fireworks had been rescheduled for Friday, July 9. I asked if our motel would be a good place from which to watch them and was told we had “the best seat in the house.” The fireworks were set off on the shore of downtown Munising. We were a mile away across the bay.

We had a long wait — sunset lasts forever that far north — and the show didn’t begin until 11:06 local time. But it was worth the wait. Munising isn’t a large town, but they put on a great show. It lasted a full 25 minutes — the finale itself lasted for more than five minutes. The reflections on the water were as amazing as the fireworks themselves. I set up my tripod and took one long exposure photo after another. Here’s a sampling.
