Cary, Illinois — Fel-Pro Conservation Area

I’ve seen Bullfrogs many times before but, for some reason, never got around to positively identifying one.

I was walking around the west pond at Fel-Pro when I saw this guy. He was about six inches long. He plopped into the water from the grassy edge, then just floated there about eight inches from shore and allowed me to get within a foot to take some photos. When I tried to get even closer, he swam out further, visible all the way, before floating up to the surface about seven feet away.
