Sunrise on our first morning on Lake Superior was pretty but not spectacular. I stumbled out of my tent just as the sun rose above the trees.
We headed up to Lake of the Clouds and saw a second sunrise over the hills beyond the lake.
From the overlook, I took these shots of the first sunlight on the trees in the valley.
Our first priority after breakfast was firewood. We’d seen some for sale along the road south of Ontonagon, about 20 miles away. Five of us piled into a pickup and went searching. We bought a face cord for $50 from a pleasant woman at a farm and loaded it up. The wood filled the truck bed and then some, but we managed to get it all in. I mention this because that $50 of wood was used by pretty much everybody in the entire campground before we left. People might still be using it as you read this.
