My wife and I were in Richmond, where she picked me up at the end of my 28-mile hike to Wisconsin. A visit to Anderson’s Candy Shop is on my list of things to do in McHenry County, so we stopped.
We probably shouldn’t have. To begin with, I still looked (and smelled) like I’d just hiked 28 miles. In addition, I could hardly move after sitting in the car for half an hour at Dog n Suds. But there we were, and there we stopped.
The girl behind the counter gave me a very odd look when I took the inside photo. My wife picked a milk chocolate caramel. We bought a milk chocolate mint chip for our daughter, who was at home. I bought a dark chocolate lars bar, which I was told was something like a turtle. It was pretty good, although a bit dry.
I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip, but if you happen to be heading to Richmond for Dog n Suds (which I’m sure all of you will eventually do), you might want to stop.
