Cubs vs. Expos — August 14, 1985

I went to this game with a friend. Of the five games at Wrigley Field that I attended this season, this was the only one that didn’t start at 3:05. The game was notable chiefly because Expos Sal Butera and Bryn Smith hit their first career home runs on consecutive pitches in the fourth inning off the Cubs’ Ray Fontenot. The Cubs lost 8-7.

Cubs vs. Mets — August 3, 1985

A friend got these tickets somehow and asked me at the last minute. The Cubs lost 5-4.

Cubs vs. Dodgers — July 12, 1985

I went with three guys from work. I don’t remember anything about the game itself. I do remember that our seats were way down the left-field line in the absolute back row of the upper deck. Our backs were against the chain-link fence. The Cubs lost 7-4.

Cubs vs. Reds — May 22, 1985

My friend and I bought tickets to two games in three days. What I chiefly remember about this game is Brian Dayett’s pinch-hit grand slam home run. He only had four RBIs all year (in 26 at bats), and I saw them all! The Cubs won 7-4.

Cubs vs. Reds — May 20, 1985

I went to this game with a friend. I remember it primarily because we saw Pete Rose’s 159th career home run. It was his career hit #4,129. The Cubs won 6-1.
